LinkedIn for Introverts
About Lesson

In this module, we will explore the steps to uncover and articulate your brand’s identity. Through exercises in introspection, strategic alignment, and external expression, you will learn how to craft a personal brand that not only stands out but also resonates deeply with your professional aspirations and personal values.

Remember that the goal is not just to answer “Who are you?” in a way that satisfies the world, but in a way that resonates with your innermost self.

Your personal brand should be a true reflection of your unique identity, evolving alongside you as you navigate through your own Wonderland.

Tyler Basu puts it like this:

“Your personal brand should not be an inauthentic persona. Branding is not about positioning yourself as something that you are not. It’s about purposefully and strategically showcasing your authentic self to your audience and your customers. Your personal brand should be a true reflection of your skills, passions, values, and beliefs.”

To put it another way, your personal brand is built upon your skills, passions, values, and beliefs. You must “know thyself” if you want to build a strong personal brand.

Ask yourself:

  • What unique skills do I have?
  • What are my core values?
  • What am I most passionate about?
  • What unique experiences have shaped who I am?
  • How can I most effectively serve my core audience?
  • What do I have to offer that no one else does?

The answers to these questions will begin to shape your personal brand and help you get to the core of what matters most to you and how you can add value to the world around you.

Once you’ve identified the core of who you are, it’s time to think about what you want to accomplish with your personal brand. Think beyond the money, fame, or followers.

These things are weak motivators as without them, you lose focus and interest.

You need to establish a powerful purpose and a strong why to keep you going when things are difficult. Some won’t be there for you when things get tough but your why will stick with you through anything.

It will be your foundation of power.

Answer these questions:

  • What would I like to accomplish? Why?
  • What do I want to be known for? Why?
  • What message do I want to communicate? Why?
  • If I could only give one piece of advice, what would it be?

Every strong personal brand is driven by a powerful ‘why’ – a reason that goes beyond making money or gaining fame. It’s about your deeper motivations and the impact you want to have through your work.

It’s the thing that will keep you pushing when you feel like giving up.

In this lesson, We’ll start by helping you articulate your personal mission statement, a concise expression of your core purpose and what you hope to achieve.

This mission statement will serve as your North Star.

We will continually refer to it and build from it throughout this course.
